A little or any condition monitoring is carried out on winches and windlasses. However, both are crucial within the scope of day-to-day shipboard operations. Ultrasound has unprecedented track records for checking gears, gearboxes, high (and especially) slow rotating bearings, hydraulic piping/valves and electric driven systems (hydraulic powerpacks and switchboards) and, therefore, lends itself very well for checking your on-board mooring equipment.
